Summer is finally here (Well kind of) 😃 it’s now time to go out, explore and have fun.
This time I am really excited to write this blog because in just one day we covered almost all the main attractions in Frankfurt, Germany. Before we begin I would like to tell you a bit about Frankfurt.
Frankfurt is the 5th largest city in Germany which makes it one of the most populous city in Germany. It’s is a global hub for commerce, culture, education, tourism and transportation and so on. It is one of the major financial centres of the European continent. One interesting fact about Frankfurt is, it’s airport is the largest in Germany and it is 4th busiest in Europe.

We chose to go on weekend. We left on friday evening at 5 pm. As we reside in The Netherland it took us 5 hours to reach Frankfurt to our hotel.
One important point to mention is everything is closed on Sundays. Only few bistros and small shops are open. So, you won’t see anything exuberant happening there. Best day to visit Frankfurt is Saturday as you will get to see local and flee market.
Things to do in Frankfurt
1)The Römer/Römerberg
The Römer is one of the city’s most significant landmarks. It’s also known as city hall because in 1400, the city needed a new city hall in the center of Frankfurt to make it available for lease during trade fairs. In 1405 several buildings were purchased from a wealthy merchant family.
It’s a beautiful city square. There you will find unique architecture houses which are known as city hall. From there, all the main attractions are equally far away. You will find many gift shops, bakeries, Old town church, main river cruise, HOHO buses, tourists information center, local markets, shopping centers and many more.

2) Iron foot bridge
Iron foot bridge is also known as Eiserner Steg. The interesting fact about this pedestrian bridge is that it is made of steel and concrete, which is crossed by around 10,000 people every day.
This is one of the must do activity as you can see the main skyline of the city, beautiful sunset, love locks on the bridge, popular photo spot and it has different vibe to stroll on it.

3) Eat street food
It’s now time to take a break and eat something. I would suggest just eat some local food to get the idea of how local flavors are (Bradwrust …). Otherwise you can go to cafes, restaurants, bakeries and eat something really authentic there. For non-vegetarian people you will find hundreds of option to try but unfortunately for vegetarian people not much to explore.

4) HOHO bus
You can get the HOHO bus from the main center. So there are two type of tours. One is skyline tour and other is express tour. Each tour is for 1 hour. You can choose any/both tours.
From my perspective choose only one tour which is skyline tour. You get to see the main attractions of the city and of course skyline. Skyline and Express tour are 90% same. In express tour they just take you a bit more inside the city.

5) Go to shopping center
Yupp. Here comes my all time favorite part which is shoppingggg. There is huge shopping center in Frankfurt. Must to explore when you visit there. I am sure you will like it.
6) Cruise
We decided not to take a cruise as we covered the whole city pretty much on footstep and HOHO bus. My suggestion would be to choose one. Either HOHO bus or Cruise.

7) Dinner
We skipped the lunch and just tried some local bites. We were pretty hungry. If you don’t know what to eat, go to My Zeil, 4th floor. There you will find good options to eat. We ate some indian cuisine which was 10/10 good.
8) Main Tower
Main Tower is one of the main attraction in Frankfurt. You get the lovely view of the city from the 54th floor of the building. You have to go to there. You can book tickets online or directly go there. I prefer to go during sunset. The sky is beautiful at that time. There is always 30-45 minutes of waiting time so plan accordingly.
I promise the views are incredible! Just have a look at the pictures.

#kajoltip1: Try to leave hotel as early as possible to explore the city. The plus point is that you get some nice pictures as it’s not that crowded that time and also if you start early you get more time to explore more places. I believe that’s the point of travel.
#kajoltip2: Always check the time beforehand of all the activities you want to do and then choose a route and time for those activities. Try to go to nearest information center(easily accessible) of the city. They will share all the details with you regarding the city like main attractions, local markets, events, culture etc. and don’t forget to take a map from them. It’s easy to know from where to start and end.
#kajoltip3: This is just the additional information. If you feel you are tired try to rent a E-Bike through an app called ”Tier”. It’s fun to ride on it, easily accessible, economical than public transports and it will save your time and energy to go explore more and more.
